Essay Assignment # 2
I the beginning of the semester, I didn’t have any long term college or career goals. The only thing I did know was that I wanted a college degree. I decide to pursue a degree higher then a high school diploma because I wanted to further my education. Since I can remember I liked learning, I just hated homework. A college degree would change my living status substantially; I am currently living in the projects with my mother, after a graduate I want to become a homeowner. To me renting feels like working hard to give your earning to someone else. Recently in class I took the MBTI (Jung Typology) test, my results were surprising to me but the career choices weren‘t. The scores were: Extraverted 33%, Intuitive 50%, Thinking 12% and Judging 28%. I always thought of myself as a very thoughtful person, this low score was very surprising. I wasn’t surprised I got the highest score on intuition, I always fallow my feelings. The career choices were very accurate. The resulted careers were; management in business or education, counseling and high school education. I could actually see myself in the future working in any of these three fields. I also participated in the MassGov O’Net inventory activities. The results weren’t surprising. The scores were: Enterprising 23, investigative 16, conventional 15, social 15, realistic 10 and artistic 3. My strongest trait was Enterprising and it was described “people with enterprising interest like taking risks for profit. These people prefer action rather then thought.” To describe me this was right and wrong; right because I do like to take risks for profit but wrong because I think out my chances of winning before I take action. The job that it recommended to me was Management Analyst. In Massachusetts these professionals make from 30.97-57.84$. These tests were very helpful, they helped narrow down my career choices.

this essay wasn't difficult to write because I wrote about my results and how i felt towards them. It also helped me narrow down my selection of career paths. for me it was easier to express myself because I can just write how i feel. Doing this activity has helped me see what my real interests are.
