On average, over 50 instructors (full-time and adjunct) teach one or more developmental math course at Bunker Hill. Any course taught by multiple instructors faces the problem of "course drift." The phrase "course drift" refers to what happens when individual instructors teach the course to suit their individual interests rather than to meet agreed-upon learning goals for students. This often results in inconsistent learning experiences for students and inconsistent learning outcomes. Instead, uniform content coverage and alignment of the three developmental math courses means that all students have the same kinds of learning experiences.

The supplements provided here such as the common syllabi, MyMathLab coordinator course information, midterm and final exams with rubrics, and projects are intended to be used as is in order to create a consistent student experience.

They were developed in a collaborative manner by both full-time and adjunct developmental math faculty. Working groups composed of four or more faculty members worked together to brainstorm, draft, and design the materials. We consider this an ongoing endeavor and therefore are open to your feedback and comments for further revision during the following semesters.
